2012 was a year full of Retro 9’s. Between the six pairs that dropped as part of the Kilroy pack, and the handful of other 9’s that released last year, it sure left 9 fans like myself very satisfied. One of the better releases from Jordan brand last year in my opinion was the Retro 9 in Cool Grey. I did a post shortly after copping this pair last December, but here they are again This was one of my favorite pairs of Air Jordan’s of all time, that just happened to retro again late last year. It’s also a pair of kicks which I don’t feel I did a fair writeup for on the blog — the Air Jordan 9 Retro “Cool Grey”. If you read the blog at all, you’ll find that I’m a big Retro 9 fan. Here’s a better look at them.
Shoe: Air Jordan 9 (Retro) “Cool Grey”
Product Code: 302370-015
Colorway: Medium Grey/White-Cool Grey
2012 was definitely a year of Retro 9’s. outside of the six pairs which released as part of the Kilroy pack, the the Cool Grey’s, Olive’s, and the Photo Blue’s all dropped in 2012 just to name a few. Alongside the few pairs of Retro 4’s and the usual barrage of original Air Jordan 1 colorways that drop every year, there were far more 9’s that came out than any other Air Jordan.
The Kilroy’s were an instant hit; the Crawfish 9’s from the Kilroy pack, and the Cool Grey’s were probably my favorites from last year. This variation of the Retro 9 debuted in 2008. Probably the hottest feature of this pair in my opinion has got to be the dark icy sole. The gum-esque bottom on these is slightly translucent, which is something of a rarity on this particular Air Jordan.
Beyond that, this pair is probably a tinge bluer than the original release of the Cool Grey’s. The laces are also slightly thinner than the originals, and the Medium Grey around the shoe’s wrap is just a hair darker on these in comparison. These were definitely a must have back in December for most Jordan sneakerheads. If you didn’t get to cop, there are definitely resellers out there looking to sell.
