This one’s long overdue. I may have missed the biggest drop in the shoe game last year, but I made sure I wasn’t going to miss it the second time around. Here they are, the Bred 11’s:
Shoe: Air Jordan XI Retro “Bred”
Release: 12/21/2012 (Restocked 3/23/2013)
Product Code: 378037-010
Colorway: Black/Varsity Red-White
Just a couple weeks ago the shoe blogs started buzzing about a possible re-release of the Retro 11 in Black/White-Red. It isn’t unheard of for Nike and Jordan brands to re-release or restock kicks that sold pretty well. The Air Jordan 7 Retro, nicknamed “Raptors” was released again late last year after an initial September release. The Air Jordan IX Kikroy pack of six different colorways was also restocked in full on Christmas Day after a series of October and November quick strikes last year. If there was any Air Jordan that deserved an encore, it had to have been the shoe some sneakerheads might drive through a storefront for.
Since I missed December launch last year, this is indeed my first hands-on with the pair. At first glance, the box is exactly what we’d expect for post-Retro 5 Jordan’s. Unlike the 2011 release of the Retro 11’s in Concord, the box here is the standard issue in black. Once you open the box, however, there is an ‘XI’ insert atop the shoes. The sliders are also plastic and are done in red, as were the Concords in blue.
The shoes themselves as always have that iconic stature in their mid-top form. Icy red outersole. Carbon fiber arch plate. Piano black patent leather all around the midsole. And of course mesh on the black upper.
This is one of the most memorable kicks that you can just picture Jordan in when you kook at them. There’s not a whole lot more to day about these, they speak for themselves. Enjoy.
