Shoe Game: Mar. 2013 (He Got Game, The Invisibility Cloak & Foams, Foams, Foams)

March is here, and once again it will be a big month for both Nike and Jordan brands. You all already know March 16th is fast approaching, and thus is Jordan brand’s launch of the Retro 13 in a Bulls Away-themed colorway nicknamed, “He Got Game”, after Denzel sported them in his film of the same name back in the 1990’s. Although made popular by Denzel, this OG colorway is also well known for being worn by His Airness on the court before Denzel even thought of starring in his ’90’s flick.

Probably one of the biggest Air Jordan brand drops of the year because of its heritage as an OG colorway, retailers will surely be abuzz the morning of the 16th when these 13’s drop.

Speaking of hot drops, Nike brought in the month of March in a big way. They unleashed the highly anticipated Phoenix Suns-inspired, Penny Hardaway-approved colorway of the Air Foamposite in Electro Purple and orange this past Saturday, the 2nd. I can say for a fact, that the hype around this shoe — at least here in St. Louis — was much larger than that of the Fighter Jet colorway. Not only were more people waiting longer in line for this shoe, my local Jordan brand account only had a pair or two in most sizes.

The Fighter Jet colorway created a lot of buzz around their release a few weeks ago, although resale prices dropped a bit for those looking to flip their’s on sites like eBay. And even though pairs like the blacked-out Stealth Foamposite’s can still go for a cool $400+ after being out for months, the just released Fighter Jet’s can be copped for for under $300 in some spots. Camouflage print Foamposite’s might have been a stretch for some Foam fans, as were the Pearlized Pink edition that dropped some months ago. The Suns colorway, however, is sure to please. They’ll retail for $220, $15 short of the Fighter Jet edition.

Another drop this month is one I haven’t been big on, but they released alongside the Phoenix Suns Foamposite’s on the 2nd; Nike’s Air Penny V “Invisibility Cloak”. Now I’m not a big fan of the Penny line — aside from the Foamposite line — but this colorway seems to really set this pair of kicks off. If you ask me, they are very reminiscent of the Barkley Posite Max in the Eggplant colorway. These are worth a look of you’re looking for Nike drops in March. They’ll retail for $165.

Speaking of eggplant, another one of my 2013 picks which we saw a variation of in the Area 72 Pack, is the Nike Air Barkley Posite Max. This Foamposite’d spin-off of the Barkley Max will drop on March 23rd.

The last shoe to really round out March for Nike is the Foamposite that Foam fans have been cringing on the edge of their seat for is the pure white colorway. While the ‘Stealth’ colorway was a no-brainer for most, this one will be the pick of the month over the Suns colorway for those who’ll only pick one of the two pairs of Foams this month.

Stick tuned to the blog, I’ve got a couple of pairs I’m just itching to show off. And yes, at least one of them is a Foamposite.
